Title: Ginger cake for Spike

ingrediants:-
1lb self raising flour
1 1/2 tsps ground ginger
2 tsps baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/2 tsp salt
8 oz brown sugar
6 oz butter
3/4lb treacle or syrup
1/2 pint milk
1 egg
Sieve dry ingrediants. Warm sugar, butter and treacle, without over-heating. Warm milk and beat egg. Combine all ingrediants mixing thoroughly. Pour into a greased and lined tin and bake at 350dgr F / 180dgr C for about 1 1/2 hours or until centre is firm to touch.
